2011 Co Winners of Mr. New York Basketball

are co-winners of “Mr. New York Basketball” for 2011
Jabarie Hinds of Mount Vernon HS and Achraf Yacoubou of Long Island Lutheran HS are named the co-winners of the 2011 “Mr. New York Basketball” award by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York, Inc. This was the result of a two part process (1.) voting by BCANY and media members and (2) Committee deliberations.
The Mr. New York Basketball award is presented by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York, Inc., which consists of basketball coaches at the scholastic and collegiate levels from throughout the entire state. The Mr. New York Basketball award is widely viewed as the top award that a high school basketball player in New York State can receive.
This year Hinds is averaging: 19.3 points, 3 assists, 3 steal, 3 rebounds per game. He was named Mr. Westchester County basketball for the second year in a row. He is nominated to play in the McDonalds All American Game and was selected to play in the Capital Classic. Hinds will attend the University of West Virginia.
This year Yacoubou is averaging 19.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game. He was invited to NBA Top 100, Nike Paul Pierce and LeBron James Camps. He was the MVP of the Big Apple Classic. He was a McDonald’s All American Nominee and was selected for the Capital City All Star Game. Yacoubou has committed to the Villanova University.
