Named 2012 Miss New York Basketball

 Breanna Stewart of Cicero North Syracuse is named the recipient of the 2012 “MissNew YorkBasketball” Award by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York, Inc. Breanna was selected at the end of a two part process: (1) voting by BCANY and media members and (2) Committee deliberations.

 The Miss New York Basketball award is presented by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York, Inc, which consists of basketball coaches at the scholastic and collegiate levels from throughout the entire state.  The Miss Basketball Award is widely viewed as the top award that a high school basketball player inNew YorkState can receive.

Statistics: Breanna this  season averages: Pts. 22 per game, Rebounds. 15 per game, Assists 4 per game, Blocks 5 per game, Steals 5 per game. She had 29 points and 28 rebounds against Dr. Phillips HS who is ranked in the top 30 in the country.  She had 33 points and 16 rebounds against St Mary’s, AZ which is the #1 team in the country.

 Academically – Breanna is an excellent student with a  90 GPA.

 Community Service: Breanna has volunteered locally on behalf of the Ronald McDonald House, the March of Dimes, the North Syracuse Optimist Girls Basketball Program and as part of a youth literacy-outreach program.

 Honors: 2011 New York State Gatorade player of the year, MOP of the Tournament of Champions inArizona this year, Member of the U16 (2009), U17(2010), U19(2011) and Pan American(2011) USA National Teams. She made the All-Tournament Team for the U19 Championships. She was named 2011 USA Women’s Basketball Player of the Year. First Team All NYS 2011
