Ieasia Walker of Copiague HS is Named 2009 Miss New York Basketball
Ieasia Walker of Copiague High School is named the recipient of the 2009 “Miss New York Basketball” Award by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York, Inc. Ieasia was selected by a BCANY committee chaired by Gina Castelli, Head Coach at Siena College.
The Miss New York Basketball award is presented by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York, Inc, which consists of basketball coaches at the scholastic and collegiate levels from throughout the entire state. The Miss Basketball Award is widely viewed as the top award that a high school basketball player in the New York State can receive.
Ieasia is currently averaging 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists per game. Ieasia has played six years of varsity basketball being named the team MVP all six years. Playing point guard she scored over 2000 points in her career. She was named to an All State team from 2005 though 2009. She also played for the national champion Silver Bullets Elite AAU team. The honor roll student also is a C-Captain of the school track team. Ieasia was very involved in activities in high school such as SADD, Varsity Club, Math tutoring, and Peer Mediation.
Ieasia will attend the University of South Carolina on a basketball scholarship.

How to nominate:
An individual must be in their senior year of high school and must be one of the best basketball players in the state. Nominations are to be sent to the Executive Director by December 1st. In the nominating letter please include (1) individual’s home address and phone number (2.) Coach’s name, home address, home phone, school address, school phone and email address, (3.) basketball statistics, (4.) academic average and/or class rank, (5.) extra curricular activities, (6.) community involvement, and (7.) any other supporting information.
